CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Dio Brando
CANON: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
CANON POINT: Pre-Stardust Crusaders, as detailed in the flashbacks in Stone Ocean
CHARACTER AGE: 21 physically, 121 otherwise (vampire).
HISTORY: http://jojo.wikia.com/wiki/Dio_Brando/History
PERSONALITY: To begin with, Dio's overall mindset was greatly affected by the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. His actions could best be described as nihilism. He has zero regard for the wellbeing of others, especially when it comes to getting what he wants. He has no qualms doing whatever it takes to get himself ahead.

Dio is ambitious. Even before he found his path in life, he wanted nothing more than to make his way to the top. He will do anything it takes to get ahead, including stepping on others to get what he wants. When given the slightest hint of an opportunity to get what he wants, he will jump on it. Opportunity doesn't even need to knock, he will beat opportunity to it. In his own mind, he's working two steps ahead of everyone else. In canon, he forsakes his humanity in order to become even more powerful. He becomes less forward in his ambition once he comes back, so to speak, and allows the fact that Stand users are drawn to other Stand users to assist in his ambitions. He doesn't take a back seat, as it's his ambitions driving his hired guns, but he's no longer interested in risking himself. He's more interested in having others risk themselves for his sake.

Dio is ruthless in everything he does. He will turn a person's friends against them, ruin their personal life, and destroy everything dear to them if it will further his means. He will stop at nothing to get his way or what he wants. Mercy is not a word in his vocabulary. If you are in his way, he will destroy you. In canon, he tries to break Jonathan Joestar's spirit from the very beginning. He beats him up, isolates him from his friends, kisses his girlfriend to turn her away from him, and even kills his dog (at that point, Jonathan's oldest and only friend). His actions are the very definition of ruthless. He calms down later in the series, though he is absolutely ruthless in his quest to end the Joestar bloodline.

Dio is also very charismatic. He has a persona that he uses to draw people close to him. Whether or not he keeps these people around is another story entirely. His charisma is often described as "crushing" and he uses this to his advantage. He will use it to get people to do things for him or to surround himself with powerful people. His vampiric nature is the cause of his unnatural charisma. He uses plying words and sweet language to make people he feels are useful more susceptible to his charms. He knows just how to snare people in his trap.

When things don't go his way, Dio is very quick to anger. The moment someone starts to show a will of their own, he does what he can to strike it down. He will usually use the force of intimidation by either using his physical size or to cause psychological fear by stopping time and moving around the person to unsettle and frighten them. His anger gets the better of him, at times, much to his frustration. He has trouble thinking rationally when he's blinded by rage and will make very poor decisions, at times.

Dio is also exceptionally arrogant and completely self-assured in his own abilities. His arrogance is, naturally, his downfall. In canon, he constantly taunts whoever is fighting him by calling their efforts poor, weak, or useless. He also loses his final confrontation against Jonathan due to his arrogance -- he ignored the fact that the sword through his stomach was being used to thaw out Jonathan's frozen blood, a mistake that costs him his life. He also ultimately loses his final battle with Jotaro due to his own arrogance -- he couldn't see what Jotaro had been planning all along and had also failed to notice the rising sun.

ABILITIES: Dio is a vampire and has super human strength. He can regenerate most damage done to his body, unless repeated damage is done to a single area over a short amount of time. He also has what is known as a Stand (a spiritual guardian and can only be seen by other Stand users), called The World. The World has a 2 meter range and fights with Dio -- however, any damage taken by The World is taken by Dio. The World also has the unique ability to stop time. For sake of the game, his time stop is limited to the same 2 meter area around Dio that The World can function in and is limited to six seconds.
SINS & VIRTUES: Wrath: Dio's wrath is seen multiple times throughout his canon appearances. In Phantom Blood, he takes his wrath to an extreme degree and kills his Jonathan's (his adoptive brother) dog in a particularly horrendous way. Later, in Stardust Crusaders, Dio's wrath is ultimately what distracts him from his victory. Polnareff stabs him through the head just as he was about to kill Jotaro, which gave Dio a new target for his anger. He fell for the distraction to sate his wrath.

Pride: Above all, Dio is prideful of his own abilities and of himself. His pride is a major fault, of course, and he is arrogant because of his pride. He is so prideful in his abilities that he calls attacks against him useless and foolish. He's proud of his intelligence and his ability to think ahead and regularly uses it to his advantage. He looks down on anyone without the same foresight.

Lust: This is especially seen in Stone Ocean with Pucci, a young priest that he takes a shine to. He is also well known for having a crushing charisma about him that can make most anyone feel attraction to him. He uses a mortal's curiosity about him to take them back to his lair, have sex, then kill them for their blood. In many scenes in Stardust Crusaders, there are naked dead bodies in Dio's mansion.

Gluttony: Not quite so much for food, though he does kill and feed off of his victims for fun, but tied into his greed and wanting for more. Nothing is ever enough for him, not even the blood that sustains him. He takes blood when he doesn't need it, just for the thrill. The only blood that will truly fulfill him, though, is that of the Joestar lineage. The common blood is sheerly for his own enjoyment.

Greed: Dio's greed is a downfall for him again. In Phantom Blood, even though he wants for nothing when he's younger, he still wants more and more. Being adopted into a rich family with a caring father is not enough. He wants to usurp his adoptive brother and become the favored son. He wants more and more each time he achieves a goal.

Sloth: Not so much in Phantom Blood, but later in the series, he becomes almost lazy. Instead of going out to face his enemy head on, he sends others to do his bidding. He has Enya bring him people who might be good to serve him and rarely does any recruiting himself. He only chooses to fight the hero team because they left him with no other choice.

Envy: He is envious of everything belonging to Jonathan. Dio feels as though he's not good enough and envies the love that Jonathan gets from his father. He envies Jonathan's girlfriend so much that he steals her first kiss just to sully her image. He enives so much of what Jonathan has that he ends up stealing his body.
